ONLINE AUCTION – TONIGHT

DATE - SUNDAY 19th April 2026 1900HRS UK TIME (7PM)

PLEASE READ ALL THIS

Here is the latest Auction to take place on The Big Country Trading Post.

This genuine Gold disc was presented to Bruce Watson in recognition of sales of 100000 copies of Steeltown .

At the time Bruce requested that it be dedicated to his Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister.

I have never seen one of these before, far less seen one for sale or Auction.

It is a genuine record company Gold disc and is currently owned by Bruce.

During our Up The Attic discussions, Bruce decided that he would put this Gold disc up for auction

It is credit to you all that on several occasions now , we have been chosen by members of the band and the bands family to auction off very personal and unique collectors items.

I am absolutely delighted that Bruce has given the members of The Big Country Trading Post the unique opportunity to bid on this stunning collectors item.

How will the auction work?

1) At 1900hrs, 7pm UK Time on Sunday 19th April 2026 I will go on a live stream on The Trading Post (yes, you will see me)

2) I will explain the terms and conditions of the auction again and will then ask for bids to be PM’d to me via Facebook Messenger. I will be monitoring live the bids coming in. I will not accept any advance bids or pre offers and will only accept bids PM’d to me through Facebook Messenger whilst the auction is ongoing.

3) I will call out the highest bid at the time they come in (I won’t be revealing the bidders identity) and will ask for advances on the highest bid, initially in increments of £20

4) I will continually update those watching on Live Stream with the highest bid.

5) Once I get to the stage where bids are no longer coming in I will announce Final warning …. Going once, going twice …… then sold. The highest bidder at the time wins. I will not accept any further bids after I have announced Sold.

6) I will keep going until there is only one bidder left

7) Once I have announced Sold I will put the winning bidder in contact with Bruce where appropriate transfer of payment can be agreed.

😎 It will be up to the seller and buyer to discuss terms and payment for postage.

9) There is a reserve on this item however bidding will start at £200. I will advise during the bidding process when the reserve has been met or when we are closing in on it.

10) If the reserve is not met at the close of the bidding, I will discuss with Bruce and make contact with the highest bidder with a decision . This will take place as quick as we can manage and will not be carried out during the live stream.

11) The Trading Post or myself will not gain financially from the auction of this item.

Yet again , this is a massive coup for The Trading Post and its members. I’m delighted that Bruce has chosen our forum to auction this unique, family item over the other platforms that would have been available.

Current touring band Big Country to change name to Current touring band Big Country to change name to Big Country Redux Big Country’s co-founder and longest-serving band member, Bruce Watson, has announced that as of 1st January 2026 the band will move forward under the name "Big Country Redux". 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the passing of songwriter, frontman, and co-founder Stuart Adamson, the launch of a new website devoted to Adamson, and the forthcoming publication of the authorised biography, Stay Alive. A Stuart Adamson documentary is also in production. For Bruce, it felt like the right moment to clearly define his musical future. “Stuart’s words, music, and presence were at the very heart of Big Country. Without him, it can never truly be what it once was. Big Country Redux allows us to acknowledge that, while still performing the music we created as Big Country. It brings clarity, draws a line under recent uncertainty, and it is the right thing to do at this stage.” The name Redux, meaning “revived/restored,” reflects the music and its enduring impact. An upcoming album including songs written by Stuart, and Stuart co-writes with Bruce and Tony will be released under the same name.
